Welcome our new Coaches to the Pennsbury program!

Ryan Daley - I am very excited to be rejoining the Pennsbury Ice Hockey organization, along with Wil Richards and Drew Sweetland, as the new coaches of the Varsity team.  I am a proud Pennsbury alumnus, graduating in 2012, and have been a part of the Pennsbury organization since I started playing hockey at the age of 5 years old. I credit my success in my hockey career to the coaches I’ve had over the years that got the best out of me day in and day out and hope to continue that tradition as a coach myself.

As mentioned earlier I have played in the Pennsbury organization since I was 5 years old and continued to play my travel hockey with Pennsbury until I finished middle school.  My freshman year of high school I played for the Junior Varsity team at Pennsbury and played my travel hockey at Lawrenceville.  After my freshman year of high school I played for the Varsity team for 3 years (splitting some time my sophomore year with JV).  During my time on the varsity team I was named an Alternate Captain; we went to the Suburban league finals; and we were selected to play in the flyers cup all 3 years.  During my senior year I was also recruited to play D1 club college hockey at Penn State Berks.  I Attended Berks for my freshman year of college and was a consistent starter on Defense.  At the end of my freshman year I decided to further my education and end my hockey career by transferring to Penn State University Park where I completed my degree in Professional Golf Management.

Wil Richards - Pennsbury is where I started my hockey career at the age of 5 and continued to be a part of the organization until I graduated in 2012. Drew Sweetland, Ryan Daley and I have played hockey together for many years, not only for Pennsbury but also for the Lawrenceville Flames. We are looking forward to passing on our knowledge for the game to the new generation of the organization and also learning more in the process.

During my High School Tenure I played for the Junior Varsity team as a freshman and sophomore.  My junior and senior year I played for the Varsity team where I was named an alternate captain my senior year. We had success those two years playing in the Suburban league finals my junior year and competing in the Flyers cup both years. While I was playing high school hockey I was also playing travel hockey at the A and AA level with the Lawrenceville Flames. After my senior year at Pennsbury I played college hockey at East Stroudsburg University, which is where my hockey playing career ended. I am very excited to be returning to the Pennsbury Ice Hockey organization this 2017-18 season as one of the coaches of the Varsity team.

Drew Sweetland - I've been playing hockey since I was five years old, starting with DrePennsbury's learn to skate program. Most of my hockey youth was spent playing at various A and AA levels for the Mercer Chiefs until High School. Ryan Daley, WIl Richards and Myself then played for the Lawrenceville flames for a season. We continued to play hockey together through high school, often on the same offensive line. However, for the majority of my high school hockey career, Ryan Daley and I were a defensive pair. As a team, we made several runs at the flyers cup, however unsuccessful, I still felt we had a successful career. Our senior year, we took the (eventual) flyers cup, and state champions to a close game, only to come up short by a goal and an empty net goal. Concluding with my personal experiences, I find myself more interested in the game now more than ever. I have always been looking for ways to help teach/coach the next generation in all sports, especially hockey. I have volunteered at the Pennsbury home rink for a summer, logging over 300 hours of helping with camps and other programs run through Grundy. I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to grow the sport of hockey, teach the game to the best of my ability at my alma mater, and have a positive impact on Pennsbury hockey.
